Athletics News

ACSIS Cross Country - Proud is an understatement! The High School Acsis Cross Country Championships took place after rescheduling during bad weather and UWCE decided to host the event at Bedok Reservoir on the 7th of November. The High School Cross Country team prepared well and hard for this event and were ready to give it their all. The boys started at 8.30am and the girls followed at 8.35am, it was a beautiful morning and perfect run weather, sun, breeze and a bit of share under the trees. The Stamford Lions once again made the sure that they were the best-dressed team, looked neat in our white, red and blue uniforms. The route was rather challenging with one big steep hill at the 3km point, stairs to run down and still 2km flat to go. Our team gave their opposition some competition on Wednesday. We would like to give a big shout out the High School Cross Country team for their hard work and early weekday and Saturday mornings of training, you made us extremely proud. We had 2 of our runners on the podium, Maya Rostoft came 3rd of all the u16 girls and Jonathan Robbins 3rd of all the u19 boys. Overall the U19 Boys came 2nd out of 6 schools and the girls very close finished 5th. Congratulations and we look forward to welcoming you back next season, keep running!

Uniforms – All U11 to U19 athletes are required to purchase a customized, named uniform through Tsunami's online site - The site will be open on Tuesday 13 November. Here you will find the necessary uniform to purchase for your child to wear when competing for SAIS. Those students that have a uniform from last year are not required to purchase a new one. It is important to note that only those students who have been selected into the U19 teams, are required to purchase both a ‘Home’ and an ‘Away’ jersey.

Step 1: Click on the “Sports” icon, select the sport, and then the appropriate age bracket in which your child has been selected. You will see the full uniform needed for the start of the new season.

Step 2: Choose the appropriate size for each item and include his/her surname, which will then be printed on the back of their shirt. Be careful to check your spelling, as it will appear exactly as you submit it. Please note that this will be done locally.

Step 3: Ensure that you have selected both the jersey/shirt, shorts and socks (where applicable).

Step 4: Process the shopping cart for payment.

Uniforms are held at Stamford and a time will be arranged for students to try them on and find the best sizes. Please wait until your child has tried on the uniform before going online to make the purchase. For those wishing to personalise their tops, we will be using a local vendor and will take approximately 1 week from the time we collected them.

ACSIS Scheduling – We are finalizing the schedules for all the ACSIS teams. We have our customized LIONS fixtures and a results app that can be downloaded onto your phone. Click this link when viewing on your smartphone and then save as a bookmark. We encourage you to use this platform to check all relevant information about your child’s sporting life at the school.

Lions Tennis

We are so pleased to announce that we’ve finished our U11 season as 2ndplace in girls and 3rdplace in boys. We have noticed that after every week of training, after every match played, the kids were getting more confident and getting more in the loop in order to perform better and better in the next match, especially their eager and their attitude were in there. At the end of the day this is what it counts, how the athletes develop their skills ending up enjoying the game itself and trying their best.

Now we are about to finalize the U19 tryout week, only three more days to go: today with the girls in the afternoon and with the boys on Monday morning at 7am and Tuesday afternoon at 4.30pm. This year we are super excited about the SEASAC D2 Tennis Championships hosted by Canadian International School of Hong Kong on Thursday January 24thand Friday January 25th, 2019. Looking forward to it !!!!

This week is the last one of Lions Tennis Academy Season 1, it has been lots of fun having over 100 kids developing their skills thru games, drills, agility ladder, live ball exercises and so on.
